Methodist Senior Services
Seashore Highlands in Gulfport, MS is where retirement living becomes an art form

Methodist Senior Services is proud of its 50 year-old tradition of providing housing and services to older adults in Mississippi. It has one mission: to serve older adults in the spirit of Christian love. Our 900 plus employees and 1,600 volunteers make that mission their prime focus. Today, MSS serves more than 1,800 elders in our 12 independent living, assisted living, personal care and skilled nursing care retirement communities, with campuses that range from almost the Tennessee line to the Gulf of Mexico.

And while Seashore Highlands is a new name, MSS is no stranger to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. For 28 years, Methodist Senior Services has sought to serve the Gulf Coast region and her elders through services such as Seashore: Gulf Oaks, opened in July of 1984, and Seashore Personal Care, opened in November of 1994.

In August of 2005, the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina forced MSS to reevaluate the property and services it would continue to provide on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Thus was born the vision of a new retirement community, Seashore Highlands, which would be located further inland and would expand on MSS’ desire to provide additional senior living options for the elders of the region.

The new Seashore Highlands Campus is a work of art and will make senior living a dream come true. While Methodist Senior Services has worked hard to provide quality, affordable housing, the campus designers have worked just as hard to incorporate the amenities and styles that are reflective of Coastal living. Equipped with modern conveniences throughout the campus, Seashore Highlands will be a home unlike any other. We invite you today to see the difference for yourself and you’ll see why we think Seashore Highlands is... Where retirement living becomes an art form.

Local Information

Gulfport is a picturesque beachfront community on the Gulf of Mexico with a diverse culture supported by a progressive economy. This friendly city tries to make everyone feel welcome and at home.

Gulfport is the second largest city in Mississippi with more than 71,000 residents. It was recently ranked by Forbes as one of the Top 10 Fastest Growing Small Metro Areas in America. In addition, Moodys.com listed the city Number 1 in the nation for employment growth. The Port of Gulfport is the third-largest container port on the Gulf of Mexico and the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is growing rapidly with direct flights to numerous destinations.

Gulfport is home to two state of the art medical facilities, The Garden Park Medical Center at Gulfport Memorial Hospital.  Both strive to meet the needs of their patients with a variety of inpatient, outpatient, surgery and emergency services.

Gulfport was part of the Mississippi Gulf Coast community greatly affected by Hurricane Katrina. While the magnitude of damage and destruction left by Katrina was unparallel to anything this Country had ever seen, the spirit and the resolve of Gulfport was left unscathed, and the community is well on its way to a full recovery.

But Gulfport is not just recovering; they are rebuilding—bigger and better than ever! Businesses are reopening every day and residents are returning to rebuild the city they love. In addition to the numerous attractions that are already open, plans are underway to further revitalize the economy by redeveloping and restoring the downtown business district, improving and enhancing the magnificent Harbor, and attracting additional top quality gaming venues.

Gulfport is working its way back, and while the landscape may have changed, its unique character and warm, inviting Southern charm is still the same.  For more information about Gulfport, visit www.gulfportms.com.
