The nostalgic Henry Clay Hotel is the perfect setting for active retirement living.

The Henry Clay is a renovated historical landmark located in the heart of downtown West Point, Mississippi.   We have a great history and the community shares many cherished memories of our beautiful facility and the special events that have taken place here.

Since its renovation in 1995, the Henry Clay has served elder residents by providing affordable housing in the heart of West Point.  All apartments are private and have one or two bedroom.  No longer are residents bothered by common household headaches. The Henry Clay promises elders security in a close and caring community at an affordable price.

The Henry Clay is a perfect picture of West Point’s quaint downtown atmosphere.  Conveniently located to downtown shops, residents find daily outings easy and entertaining. A lovely rose garden, picturesque park, and public walking trail are just across the street from the former hotel and the gardens provide a beautifully fragrant attraction when the roses and wisteria are in season.

The residents of Henry Clay decided several years ago that they wanted their motto to be….”The Henry Clay…A Family of Friends,” and that is just what they are.  From the abundant group activities and outings to the community service projects headed up by the residents, the elders at the Henry Clay have become more than neighbors, they have become family.

Come visit the Henry Clay today and you will see why everyone wants to be a part of our “Family of Friends!”

Local Information

With a population of approximately 13,500, West Point is the county seat of Clay County, Mississippi. It resides on the fertile northeast "black prairie" region of the state and had its early beginnings as an agricultural and railroad town. West Point is also located at the apex of the "Golden Triangle" which is comprised of the cities of West Point, Columbus, and Starkville. Two major universities, a community college, an extensive industrial base, an excellent regional airport, international port access via the Tenn-Tom waterway, and the rich farm land, have made the Golden Triangle one of the state's fastest growing areas.
The charm of West Point will hold you spellbound, as you stroll along her quaint downtown sidewalks and through her picturesque park. The greetings you receive from passers by confirm the town's reputation for being open and friendly. West Point captures a simplicity of life rarely found in today's fast-paced society.
West Point embodies what was best about America a generation ago. Neighbors are friendly, family values are held close, and the cost of living is affordable. Although enjoying four distinct seasons, our community is blessed with a moderate winter which does not hamper an active lifestyle.
Whether it's tennis, golf, fishing, or just taking a leisurely stroll, West Point offers a variety of recreation pursuits. West Point is home to the renowned Old Waverly Golf Course.  This course captures the essence of the Scottish Highlands within the graceful setting of the Old South.
Since 1978, West Point has hosted the Prairie Arts Festival.  Held on the Saturday before Labor Day, the festival has been recognized as one of the top ten events in the South. Come visit and find out for yourself why West Point was named one of the "Top 100 Small Towns in America". For more information about West Point, visit

The Henry Clay offers transportation as scheduled for residents.  All transportation is scheduled on a first come, first served basis and depends upon the availability of the van which is shared with our sister campus, Dugan Memorial Home.
