The "Watchman" at Flowers Manor

For the past nine years, Flowers Manor has had their own personal "watchman". When you visit, the first person you will see when you come through the front doors is elder, Paul Amelung.

Paul sits in a high wing backed chair that is to the right side of the main lobby, facing the front door. This is his "spot". The lobby is his "living room". The television is set to Fox News, so he is always aware of what is going on in the news. Paul greets everyone who comes in with a smile and a greeting. In the mornings, you will hear him say, "Good Morning, it's another beautiful day in Coahoma County." After lunch, he announces the arrival of the mail and in the late afternoon, he leaves us with a farewell in Spanish, German, or French.

Paul was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and has served his country in the Navy, the Marine Corp and the Air Force. After leaving the service, Paul also worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 21 years. Paul has spent most of his life serving others.

Whenever the administrative assistant is out, we step out of the office, or have a staff meeting, Paul is right there to watch the office, sign for packages, and keep an eye on things. We are so blessed to have Paul "watching" out for us!
