ALDERSGATE SUMMER INTERN PROMOTES WELL-BEING

A huge thank you is extended to Elizabeth Carlson for the amazing job she has done as the Aldersgate Riley Foundation Intern this summer. Elizabeth was given the task of implementing programs to improve the residents' overall state of health and well-being.

She has introduced Chair Yoga, Musical Hand Therapy, "Getting to Know You Beach Ball Volleyball", not one, but two walking club groups, Line Dancing, Tai Chi and bowling to Aldersgate's already busy schedule. The residents loved it and say they have never felt better!

These exercises have been proven to help with such issues as weight control, improving sugar levels in diabetics, lowering blood pressure, pain, stress and anxiety, while increasing levels of mobility. Overall....it has been just super! Thank you so much Elizabeth for your dedication to your task.

Elizabeth will be attending MCC this fall to pursue a degree in nursing. In addition, she plans to extend her stay at Aldersgate and volunteer on a very part-time basis to help with other endeavors. We could not be more proud to have her as a part of the Aldersgate family and treasure her servant's heart of gold!

Aldersgate is very grateful to The Riley Foundation for the summer intern program for all non-profits in Meridian. The Riley Foundation provides grants for non-profits so that college students may obtain knowledge on nonprofit organizations while exposing students to careers in various nonprofit areas. The Riley Foundation Summer Grant program helps organizations serve their clients by providing resources needed to complete an specific project. We are especially grateful for the interns that have shared their talents in our community. We feel truly blessed and honored to be a part of such a worthwhile program which has helped so many college students pursue their passions!
