Wedding coordinator Betty Putnam assisted the wedding party as they prepared for the "Wesley Manor Womanless Wedding" hosted Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Wesley Manor Retirement Community.
Bride LeGette Burris and bridesmaids Gene McPhail and Don Holland applied the finishing cosmetic touches before heading to the altar. Residents and volunteers enjoyed high-spirited laughs and a wedding reception as part of the special summer event.
Groom Walter Muckelrath anticipated meeting his "bride" as he waited for festivities to begin. Resident Laura Shook joined other residents and social director Sharon Raftery in hosting the event as one of many summer activities taking place at the independent retirement community located on Westover Drive in Hattiesburg.
Wedding official Wesley Owens presided over an all-male bridal party as the bride and groom take their "vows." Rev. Julian Davis of Parkway Heights Methodist Church served as groomsman while escorting bridesmaid Jackson Hogue in the O'Neal dining room. Davis serves as the minister of outreach and senior adults at Parkway Heights UMC in Hattiesburg and as guest pastor at Wesley Manor for Sunday

Bride LeGette Burris and groom Walter Muckelroth assembled at the altar. Don Holland prepared for the “wedding” by donning a stylish hat and colorful satin sheath dress. The men of Wesley Manor participated in the event to the delight of a capacity crowd.
No wedding is complete without cake. Attendees enjoyed a punch and cake reception in celebration of the new "husband and wife." Don Garner smiled as he posed in his wedding attire. Garner, a friend of Wesley Manor Retirement Community, frequently works as a volunteer at the independent retirement community.
Newly "married" husband, Walter Muckelroth and wife, LeGette Burris ceremoniously sliced the wedding cake.
