CELEBRATING STEVE MCALILLY’S 25TH WITH MSS

We want to wish Steve McAlilly, President and CEO of Methodist Senior Services, a Happy 25th Anniversary. He has actually served for 30 years, if you count his years of time on the Aldersgte Board of Directors. Take a walk down memory lane with us as we look at the past 25 years and all the things Steve has helped MSS achieve during his time here.

Steve was hired on November 15, 1993.

In 1994, the organization began to take "stock" of where it was and determined the vision for Senior Services. Common themes emerged, specifically, that we were called by God to serve older adults and their changing needs with excellence.

In 1994 Seashore Personal Care opened.

In 1995 Aldersgate Personal Care opened.

In 1995 MSS adopted the mission statement: ...serving older adults in the spirit of Christian love

Opened The Henry Clay in 1995.

Opened Wesley Meadows in 1996.

Opened Riggs Manor in 1998.

Added Cottages at Flowers Manor in 1998, at Aldersgate in 2000 and Riggs Manor in 2002.

In 1998, MSS received its first EAGLE Accreditation and was re-accredited in 2003, 2008 and 2014.

MSS built the world's first Green Houses at Traceway in 2003 and added more in 2005 at Traceway, at Riggs Manor in 2006, at Martha Coker in 2008 and 2009, and at Seashore Highlands in 2015.

MSS has weathered two natural disasters with Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the Tupelo Tornado in 2014. Katrina brought the sale of the original Seashore property and the purchase of the new property that is known as Seashore Highlands which opened in 2013.

MSS developed a new logo and brand in 2008.

In 2012, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of Methodist Senior Services and opened Senior Rx.

On October 21, 2012 Steve was recognized by LeadingAge with its Award of Honor, the industry's highest award. LeadingAge cited McAlilly's leadership and compassions as key factors for his success and selection. This award gained national recognition for MSS and increased awareness of its ministry and mission.

In 2013, MSS launched Senior Tx.

In 2014, the NextAge Mississippi concept was born during a strategic planning retreat.

MSS also created the HERE TO HELP customer service program in 2014.

We have repositioned a few properties in the last few years to meet the market needs in the Assisted Living.

This list includes just a few of the major highlights of Steve's tenure with MSS. This is by no means a comprehensive look at all the amazing things that take place on a daily basis. Steve would tell you that all these great things that take place on MSS campuses are because of all the great people who are a part of the MSS family, and not because of him. But we, his team, disagree. Through his visionary leadership and his courage to do "whatever it takes" to create the best homes and services for Mississippi elders, we are continually inspired to follow his example and go the "second mile."

Happy Anniversary Steve! Thanks for all you do to make Methodist Senior Services great!
