A NIGHT FOR A HAND UP

The Tupelo Lee County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the CREATE Foundation presented their second annual "A Night for a Hand Up" event November 19.

Local charities submitted grants with the objective to help people who are trying to help themselves overcome their immediate problems, misfortunes and handicaps in order to have a better life and become productive citizens.

Meals on Wheels of Lee County was honored to receive Third Place and a grant of $2,500.

Dawn Steinman, Traceway Director of Resident Services, spoke to the crowd and shared not only the great need for hot meals for the elderly in Lee County, but also her own personal testimony of how touched she was that 25 donors recently gave memorial gifts to this ministry in tribute to her mother, Mrs. Alfreda Hanlon, who passed away recently.

MSS appreciates the opportunity to partner with organizations like TLCF to continue to help others.
