Somebody’s trying to tell me something.
Wednesday, April 28th, 2010This morning’s devotional prayer was “Save me from self-contentment, from a vision that is too narrow.”
Then I turn to a chapter in This I Believe II titled “The Person I Want to Bring into the World”. To make that long story short, a lady who was expecting her first child pondered with her husband what three characteristics they hoped their new baby would have. They settled on honesty, caring about other people and the ability to laugh at yourself.
And then to this morning’s excerpts from Rework:
MAKE A DENT IN THE UNIVERSE
To do great work, you need to feel that you’re making a difference. That you’re putting a meaningful dent in the universe. That you’re part of something important.
This doesn’t mean you need to find a cure for cancer. It’s just that your efforts need to feel valuable.
…..
You should feel urgency about this too. You don’t have forever. This is your life’s work.
…..
If you’re gong to do something, do something that matters.
Big visions, honesty, caring, laughing, doing something that matters. All connected by a slender thread. I better get busy!
